چکیده

We investigate how decoherence affects the short-time separation between quantum and classical dynamics for classically chaotic systems, within the framework of a specific model. For a wide range of parameters, the distance between the corresponding phase-space distributions depends on a single parameter x that relates an effective Planck constant "eff, the Lyapunov coefficient, and the diffusion constant. This distance peaks at a time that depends logarithmically on "eff, in agreement with previous estimations of the separation time for Hamiltonian systems. However, for x&1, the separation remains small, going down with "eff 2 , so the concept of separation time loses its meaning.

Teleportation via an Entangled Coherent Channel and Decoherence Effect on This Channel

We study an entangled two-mode coherent state within the framework of2×2-dimensional Hilbert space. We investigate the problem of quantum teleportation ofa superposition coherent state via an entangled coherent channel. By three differentmeasures with the titles ``minimum assured fidelity (MASF)”, ``average teleportationfidelity” and ``optimal fidelity (f)” we study the ...

Decoherence and the Correspondence Principle for Chaotic Systems

Violation of correspondence principle may occur for very macroscopic but isolated quantum systems on rather short timescales as illustrated by the case of Hyperion, the chaotically tumbling moon of Saturn, for which quantum and classical predictions are expected to diverge on a timescale of approximately 20 years. Motivated by Hyperion, we review salient features of “quantum chaos” and show tha...

An Example of the Decoherence Approach to Quantum Dissipative Chaos

Quantum chaos—the study of quantized nonintegrable Hamiltonian systems—is an extremely well-developed and sophisticated field. By contrast, very little work has been done in looking at quantum versions of systems which classically exhibit dissipative chaos. Using the decoherence formalism of Gell-Mann and Hartle, I find a quantum mechanical analog of one such system, the forced damped Duffing o...

02 1 v 1 2 1 N ov 1 99 7 Spontaneous Decoherence in Coupled Quantum Kicked Rotators

Quantum mechanical behavior of coupled N-kicked rotators is studied. In the large N limit each rotator evolves under influence of the mean-field generated by surrounding rotators. It is found that the system spontaneously generates classical chaos in the large N limit when the system parameter exceeds a critical value. Numerical simulation of a quantum rotator coupled to a classical rotator sup...

Non-integrability and mixing in quantum systems: On the way to quantum chaos

In spite of the increasing attention that quantum chaos has received from physicists in recent times, when the subject is considered from a conceptual viewpoint the usual opinion is that there is some kind of conflict between quantum mechanics and chaos. In this paper we follow the program of Belot and Earman, who propose to analyze the problem of quantum chaos as a particular case of the class...
